The 40's Newsletter

AUGUST 2002

A FEW NOTES, NOTATIONS, AND A SUBSCRIPTION CHANGE

THESE EDITIONS

This is the first of  5 editions over the next five years,  for the graduation classes of the 1940’s. It is planned that the spring of each year will be the publication time. The amount of news that is available for each class will be principally dependent on the input from subscribers.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

Each edition will include a classmate list showing addresses, telephone numbers, any e-mail and fax numbers, including additions and changes forwarded to us. We hope you will furnish us with color photographs, which can be returned to you if you so request. Articles, or stories about your travels, family activities, or achievements are welcome and will usually be published.

SUBSCRIPTION CHANGE

If you have already subscribed with a check you are set for  five years.. If not please do so at this time, as the introductory price is valid only to May 31,2002. After that date the subscription price will be $40. Only subscribers will receive the Newsletter after this first issue.

NOTATIONS ON THE CLASS LISTS

after a classmate’s name denotes the person as a subscriber. .

after a name denotes a non subscriber, but whose  address  has been recently verified

“Last known at”     signifies that mail has been returned as undeliverable. The address is invalid, but the

Telephone number may still be usable if the person moved in the same city, or town.….

No notations          we assume that the address is viable, as mail was not returned as “undeliverable.”

TELEPHONE NUMBERS

Area codes are changing constantly. If you have a new area code going into force within six months we would appreciate being notified. New area codes are usually not enforced for 12 months after being announced. Then for six months the operator will tell you of the change.

E-MAIL ADDRESSES

Subscribers with e-mail addresses will receive an e-mail copy of their class Newsletter upon publication. When all class Newsletters have been published, an update to the web site with all the class lists, news, and special features will be sent to each e-mail subscriber (except Web TV owners). If you do not have a computer, and wish a copy of other class information contact us at our Florida address, for an order form.

Web Site  ADVANTAGES

The CDR discs, originally scheduled, turned out to be unreadable to some portion of our computer owners. Therefore we are readying a web site, which is legible to all computers. The advantages of the web site over the CDR include: updating on a regular basis without additional cost to publish, nor extra cost for mailing., Added new stories or event coverage can be inserted without waiting to be read in the annual edition. The classmates who get a printed annual edition, can, without additional cost, get one of their computer able kids or Grand kids to print out any section of the web site that is of interest to them. A visit to the local library will make a copy of the web site available to you with the help of the librarian. At this writing over 50% of our subscribers do not have computers. We hope this will change over the years.

WHO GETS THE NEWSLETTER …HOW THE SATISFACTION GUARANTEE WORKS

After this issue, only subscribers will receive the Newsletter. Printed copies go by US Mail to non-computer subscribers. E-mail subscribers receive a notice of the updated web site. We agreed to guarantee subscriber’s satisfaction. When a subscriber has received his first copy, and is not satisfied, a request for a refund in writing will be honored. That is the only time such a request will be honored. The If You are unhappy for any reason, merely put your request, and reason for dissatisfaction in a letter to us.
